Life became bigger when I found something to be excited about, and that just so happened to be photography for me. I spent more than ten years as a model and loved every second of it so I turned what I knew into a new passion. Picking up a camera and capturing intimate and authentic moments for people is so special. Learning what makes them smile and gets real laugh out of a grumpy husband that doesn’t particularly want to be taking photos is so rewarding. I realized quickly that my love for humans interaction with a camera in my hand was a special gift.
I started my photography business in hopes to give me something special I could do outside of being a stay at home mom. I began doing free sessions. Literally Free. I posted on Facebook one day hoping that some friends would let me take photos of them for my portfolio and surprisingly I had quite a few people reach out. I booked 5 sessions and used those photos to advertise for paid sessions. Before I knew it I got my first paid session, and then the next, and then the next.
One of my goals for 2025 is to grow my photography business. Do more sessions. Network with more people. I don’t know that my intention with photography will ever be to make a bunch of money, although that would be a perk, but mostly just to be creative in a space that is all my own.
